Keep it Simple Post
We writers tend to overthink things. We are writers and therefore we write, edit, write edit - our goal is to get things perfect. When it comes to book marketing, however, we simply don’t have the time for our book marketing outreach - whatever we decide to do - to be perfect. Although we want our promotion to always be authentic it doesn’t always have to be perfect.
Today’s KISS - Keep Book Marketing Simple Post includes a resource which I promise will jumpstart your Instagram posts. Let me know what you think in the comments.
Casey Neistat created a video describing his vision for how to use Instagram - the video is a few years old but I believe that it is the perfect instruction video for Instagram, perhaps how instagram was meant to be and I hope how it becomes again… a healthy, inspiring glimpse into the life of the person whom you decide to follow.
Have a look at the video and consider how it’s overarching message: Keep It Simple, can possibly help you in your interaction on social media. Let me know what you think? Does it resonate with you? Did you have a physical reaction while watching the video? Can this suggested way of using Instagram be something YOU can use?

I think its ok to promote stuff, especially if you can relate it to what your audience already desires... A tough needle to thread sometimes. In the video - an oldie but great-y - the idea of 'telling a story" - telling your story - giving the person who is looking at your posts a glimpse of who you are and what you want to share that is helpful to THEM is the trick. Plus, good old fashioned entertaining and interesting pictures is also always cool - did you see the 'lobster on my driveway pic" on my wall?
Loved that video, Claudine. Thanks for sharing. I'm guilty of working WAY too hard to create content for social media. I usually get tired of making the thing and then never post it. 😂I've also been, perhaps "wrongly," using my Instagram to try to promote stuff. Substack, etc. But maybe that's not the right move on that particular platform. Good stuff to think about. :-)
