Enter A Writing Contest: It’s Good Practice & Good Book Promotion
WOW - Women on Writing - A Website That Offers Writing Contests
Submit your fiction or non-fiction to a writing contest
Here is a quickie idea for a Friday... In my post “How I Met Kevin Pollack…” I mused about the cool terminology that comes with deciding to write, publish and market a book. In my next post, I am going to write about media contacts. Media Contact is one of those industry terms that is super important when it comes to marketing a book. A media contact is any journalist, blogger, podcast host, producer, TV host, radio host, newspaper columnist, website owner - anyone - who you might pitch about an interview, a review or a mention of your book. Some media contacts can be both a resource to you as a writer or book marketer and also an opportunity for you to pitch.
WOW - Women on Writing is a media contact is both a resource and pitch opportunity
WOW - Women on Writing website is one of those “media contacts” that are both a resource and a pitch opportunity. They are a resource for writers - great information to write, publish and market your book as well as ways to advertise your book. It is also a community resource where you can interact with other writers on a variety of subjects. Finally, it is a place where you can pitch your own writing. One way, a very fun way, to pitch is to submit your writing to their fiction or non-fiction writing contests that they hold every quarter. If you win or if you are a runner-up, you will win some money but even better, you will be advertised on the site, in their huge subscriber newsletter where thousands will see your work and learn your name, and finally, your bio with the links to your social media and other works will be attached to submission for all to see. Free marketing, gals!
My advice… you are a writer, so write. Take an excerpt from your manuscript or share something new and submit it. The buzz exposure if you win or are a runner-up will be worth it. WOW - Women on Writing is not the only media contact that offers writing contests. I’ll be sharing my research on other opportunities for you to share your work and build buzz on your name and your work as I find them. Keep writing and good luck.
