Hello Everyone,
My intention here has always been to share words of upliftment. Words that turn your eyes upward, inward, or widen your perspective. It is my belief that when we contemplate a larger picture we see ourselves in it, and when we widen the aperture we make room for grace.
I appreciate the growing community we have here; the continued sharing, liking and subscribing truly helps. Thank you 🌺🐝. It takes a hive.
There is a current phenomena in Philadelphia right now called Bryce Harper.
I started watching baseball for the same reason I started watching football — my son. It’s easy to spot Harper’s charisma. We recently went down to the stadium for a game. The Phillies right now have an uproariously supportive Philly fanbase, and it is deeply made up of families. There is an electricity between the filled stadium and the field — and it is one of community.
When Harper goes up to bat, he, like many of the other players, does a habit that includes bending his knees to one side and touching the ground.
“What a way to reset your mind.”
“Huh,” my friend asks.
“Well, think about it. He misses one swing, but he can’t go anywhere, He has to forget what literally just happened and hit the ball.”
My baseball loving friend, looked at me, “I’ve never thought about it that way.”
“That’s how my brain works,” I shrug. If you watch for it, almost all the players do some repetitive action before they hit. Every time. Whether it is the first time or they are one swing away from a strike out.
For Harper, with his charisma and leadership, when he plays well the whole team rises. It’s quite amazing to watch. But unfortunately, everyone seems to think he can do that every time that we walks to the plate.
So I watched him — closely (plus he is my son’s favorite so everyone in a mile radius knows when Bryce is up). I saw how we walked to the plate. Set-up himself up with this pre-bat ritual, knock it out, and run to the plate, one hand up in the air.
He chooses it. When he walked up to that plate, what I saw is that he chooses his leadership, his confidence and his responsibility. He has 42,000 opinions beaming down from him the stadium, and when it comes down to the moment it is him, a bat, and a ball.
Many of us, self included, won’t let ourselves be noticed at a restaurant with a sparkle in the cake for a Happy Birthday, too embarrassed to draw supportive attention to ourselves. Then there are some humans that have conditioned their mind to perform and harness the moment in a stadium of spectators.
There has to be an in between that we can harness, too.
I think the point is dropping what hasn’t worked and making room for the moment at hand.
Time to clean up, let go, re-home, clear away and create space for something new. Take your time but once you decide, make it permanent. This is a good and important time frame to focus on what is close to home, taking time for yourself if you need it, nurturing and sharing your creative ideas but without the stress of having to implement anything except the clearing process you may be experiencing. Distance yourself from annoying situations and always move your thoughts to the positive aspects of creating new space. Make sure you include that which will support your boundaries and sense of security and safety. - The Power Path, outlook for August 8 - 13th, 2023
If Bryce were to wallow in a ball missed, he wouldn’t be able to carry a team. He wouldn’t be able to drop the past and run the bases — hit and strive. I read an article that said in 2013 he included Luke 1:37 on all his autographs, I had to look it up.
The focus he has must stem from a commitment to his own life and what he has decided it is worth. I went looking for mindfulness interviews with him, and couldn’t find any — so if you are an avid fan or resourceful listener please share them below! Because there is a method that is being offered to all of us about stepping into our leadership and training our mind to meet what is ours and blocking out the deluge of opinions, whether they are fans, or social media trolls, family members or coworkers, we are here to grab the moment and bring it home.
Today is the Lion’s Gate Portal and where that is your thing or not it’s 8/8 —a bunch of numbers that turned on their side is infinity. There are infinite potentials within us, we need to focus on the one we want, with the discipline of our own belief to make it so.
What if you’re in a slump? I have one more baseball metaphor for you: watch this video of Trea Turner, a professional playing millions of dollars a year who was benched for not hitting. When he got back on the plate, he got a standing ovation. Maybe, just maybe, there is unseen support waiting to unexpectedly cheer you on too.
See you back here soon.
Happy Tuesday,
Kate
